Q: Does your clinic or doctor accept new patients for family practice?
A : Availability for family practice varies from time to time and per physician. To inquire about Family Practice for a specific doctor or clinic, visit the information page for the clinic of your choice. You may also contact the clinic by phone to inquire.

Q: What happens if I miss an appointment?
A: SPC requires patients to call for cancellation at least 24 hours before their appointment time. If you cannot attend your appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Some of our clinics may charge a fee for cancelled appointments.

Q: What types of medical coverage do you accept?
A: We accept medical coverages from the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP) and Bluecross. For all other insurance coverages, patients must pay upfront and submit the claim to their insurance company.

Q: What means of payment do you accept?
A: For payment methods, we accept cash, debit, and credit.

Q: My health card is expired. Am I still able to see a doctor?
A: Individuals with expired health cards have until September 30th, 2022, to renew their health card, according to the Ministry of Health.

Q: I have a family member who is visiting from another country. Is SimpliCare able to care for them?
A: Yes, we can see your family member. It will be considered an “Uninsured Service,” and there will be a fee.

Q: Do you give phone advice?
A: To ensure patient privacy and confidentiality, please make an appointment to speak to your family physician. We do not provide medical advice or review test results over the phone.

Q: Are there any services that are not covered under OHIP?
A: Yes, some uninsured services are not covered under OHIP. For any inquiries on uninsured services, please the clinic directly.

Q: My family doctor practices at one of SimpliCare clinics. How do I renew my medications with them?
A: For prescriptions and medication renewal, please ask your pharmacy to fax the prescription renewal scripts to the clinic’s fax number. If approved, your pharmacy will receive a signed prescription from your doctor.

Q: What do I do if I am experiencing a medical emergency?
A: For any medical emergencies, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency or urgent care hospital.
